Recently I picked up an old game in my game backlog to play and complete. Bayonetta. I have this game for a long time and didn’t have a chance to play it. My expectation on this game was actually very high. The game is actually incredibly fun and full of surprises. It may be old but has a very fluid control for player to enjoy and play on the style they like.
I feel that the game is much more like a fighting game than adventure (or action). You can treat every encounter like a duel – against many. Before starting this game I was expecting that this game is all about punching and kicking with combos. Never would I expect that I would get to fight atop cars, ride motorbikes that can jump and skid like mad, walk vertically on the wall, fight by standing on falling debris, on speeding airplane, on ROCKET! What is this? It was ultimate thrill. Let alone the sarcasms in the dialogs. And, of course, the lollipop.
Besides fighting punch and kick combos, there are some weapons that we can buy from NPC and various weapons from enemies. Different weapon gives different animation when used. Pretty cool. I didn’t get to collect all weapons. Nor did I ever think of doing. There are also many techniques to acquire. Well, I can’t and won’t remember them.
The game graphics may be a bit not up-to-date. But I feel that it’s pretty good for its game age. The game, though, contains lewd that it’s probably safer not to play around kids. Just saying.
Oh yeah, this game really train my old-man reflexes. Love it. Too bad Bayonetta 2 is exclusive to Nintendo Switch, which … my kids are hogging. I don’t want to install this game for them to peek into! Seriously.
